Free Show! Shiner Honky Tonk Night with The Wil Gravatt Band
Free Show! Shiner Honky Tonk Night with the Wil Gravatt Band at Pearl Street Warehouse on 8/22
Doors: 7 PM
Show: 7:30 PM
A Texas boy transplanted to Virginia at an early age,
Wil Gravatt has the musical sensibility of a musician who has explored and performed many styles.
A dichotomous journey from singing drummer in a punk band –
to frontman for the country & western powerhouse
A new album project in 2018 has Wil working with
Grammy winner Ray Kennedy (producer of such stellar artists as
Lucinda Williams, John Mellencamp, & Taylor Swift) and Wil’s
longtime producer Paul Royce Koch.
The results are simply the best work Wil has done. One listen to the fiddle-laden, rollicking
“Carnival Girl” gives you a sense of the talent behind the songwriting, performance,
and production of the entire album. New tracks are being released once a month until complete.
Wil can count among his fans two American presidents (both of whom invited Wil and his band to perform at their inaugurations.)
Stay tuned to much more from Wil Gravatt!
Smithsonian Year of Music
In April 2018, Secretary Skorton announced 2019 will be the Smithsonian Year of Music, an Institution-wide initiative to increase public engagement, advance understanding, and connect communities in Washington, D.C., across the nation, and around the globe. The Smithsonian Year of Music will highlight and share our vast musical holdings, bringing together our resources in history, art, culture, science, and education.
The Smithsonian Year of Music will feature “365 Days of Music at the Smithsonian” with a variety of music-related activities: performances, music releases, exhibitions, workshops, educational programs, lectures, films, and conferences. The 2019 Smithsonian Folklife Festival (June 26 to 30 and July 3 to 7, 2019 on the National Mall) will focus on the “Social Power of Music.”
Launch your exploration of music at the Smithsonian at https://music.si.edu/ and stay tuned for special performances and events, highlighted programming and collections, partners and collaborations. Much more to come!
